Living
the Dream
Capital Christian Center
Sacramento, CA
In the year 2002, the
leadership of Capital Christian Center followed the leading of the
Lord to embark on a new phase of our spiritual journey as a family
of believers. We have experienced many victories since then, and
we look forward to more mountains to climb.
Our Pastor Emeritus,
Glen D. Cole, laid out the vision for us 27 years ago. We are called
to minister to the whole man: spiritually, in Holy Spirit-anointed
services; intellectually, in stimulating the mind to learn and grow
in all aspects of life; socially, in relationship-building opportunities;
and physically, with recreational facilities that allow for athletic
participation. Thousands of lives have been touched for eternity
through the fulfillment of this vision. Thousands more are waiting
for that touch. We are still building on this wonderful foundation.
Many of our original
goals from 2002 have been met. We have much to be thankful for.
Here are some of the significant details to date:
Pledged
$17.5 million toward an $18.5 million goal. One year into the
campaign, pledges were adjusted which changed our pledge total
to $15.5 million.
$12,632,314 has been given to date. $664,379 has been earned in
interest income, bringing our cash total to $13,296,693.
Retired our mortgage of $2.5 million and redirected our monthly
mortgage payment to increase our Christian school teachers’
salaries.
Installed an elevator in the lobby of our main auditorium.
Installed a new playground for our elementary school
Construction underway for both the North and South wings of our
High School building. Completion of construction is projected
for May of 2006.
Important
elements of our vision yet remain to be accomplished. The cost
of construction rose dramatically from the time our dream was
birthed. This reality leaves us with the opportunity to pursue
the following:
Complete
the funding of the North and South wings of our High School building
and remain debt free. Cost to complete is approximately $5 million.
Refurbish our church lobby and auditorium at a cost of $2 million.
Construct a youth center building to accommodate our rapidly growing
youth ministry at a cost of approximately $9 million.
We have
determined to apply the funds as they are given in this sequence:
1) Complete the funding of the North and South wings of our High
School building, 2) Refurbish our church lobby and auditorium, 3)
Construct our youth center building. It is our goal to raise the
$7 million needed to complete steps one and two in this two year
campaign, and begin building our savings toward the construction
of our youth center.
The Lord
has commissioned us to focus all our energy and resources to reach
the unbelieving people of this world. He has not only called us
to the Sacramento region, but to a global effort to reach all people.
For this reason, our church leaders have committed 10% of all “Continuing
The Dream” giving to our missions efforts at home and around
the world.
Our goals are not rooted in physical, temporary accomplishments.
They are rooted in a spiritual relationship with God who leads us
to discover our destiny for our time on earth. During this time
of focus we will learn what God has planned for us to accomplish,
pray about our individual part in the fulfillment of His plans,
and obey what He reveals to each of us regarding our personal act
of service.
We must
not rest on what has been accomplished thus far. Our children, and
our children’s children are depending upon our faithfulness
and commitment to God’s plan for their destiny in this world.
We are experiencing the joy of giving and leaving a legacy to be
followed. Join Cathy and me in praying about a sacrificial commitment,
over and above the tithe, for the next two years. It will take great
faith and commitment for us to meet the challenge, but God is with
us and is leading us through this exciting time in the life of Capital
Christian Center.
Together,
we are “Continuing The Dream” to lead our children,
our grandchildren, and our great grandchildren to live out our destiny
in this world.
